COMPANY PROFILE
Quartermaine Consultants operates as a consultancy for
Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage investigations, specialising in
archaeology. This includes preliminary research projects, field surveys,
salvage projects, and the preparation of the appropriate reports. The
company was established in 1984 and registered as a business name with Gary
Quartermaine as principal consultant. Two staff work part time and excess
work is sub-contracted to a pool of qualified archaeologists. Informal
links are maintained with competent anthropologists who undertake
Aboriginal consultation. Mr Rory O'Connor is the principal anthropologist
of this group.
Quartermaine Consultants have undertaken in excess of 500
projects for the private and public sector including various government
departments and public utilities, mining companies, developers, and
environmental and engineering companies. The projects have been in all
parts of the state and of various scales. Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal
heritage investigations are undertaken by our consultants with reference to
the State and Federal Aboriginal heritage legislation and in accordance
with traditional Aboriginal customs and laws, where appropriate. Research,
survey and salvage work is scientifically based and consultants strive to
keep informed of developments in archaeology, particularly aspects that may
impact the conduct of their work.
Quartermaine Consultants is prequalified with Main Roads
Western Australia for Aboriginal and heritage work.
